What Do We Actually Need?

Image
Every day, there’s a desire in our heart, and it could be anything, say, food, sleep, vacation, or anything on the face of earth. Most of our desires shoot up from wants, in spite of our needs. We are evolved in a certain way that we can’t really get rid of desires. However, our actions are based on the thought of fulfillment of these desires and they indirectly feed our needs. Did we ever think about what we actually need? We need peace in our heart and mind. This is the real treasure we need and we should desire for. We can’t survive without desire. After all, desires keep our lives in motion and attribute some sort of meaningfulness to it. We never thought about our heart’s true desire. We are merely following a monotonous lifestyle and routine. In this stagnant living, we might gain material wealth, but for our happy survival through the adversities of life, we need something to quench our heart, mind and soul. The most effective and easiest way to relax is to do something that is ...

Book Review: Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore

Image
For a long time I wished to read a classic piece of work. Gratefully, I got my hands on some treasured gems from history, one of those is Gitanjali written by Rabindranath Tagore . The name Gitanjali is translated in English as song offerings. I read the English translation. Songs were filled with deep meaning and unfathomable emotions. The poems or more profoundly referring, songs written by Tagore are eternally fragrant. There were more than 100 songs written with love and grace engulfing multiple meanings for different phases and different stages of life. One cannot attach a single meaning to any of them. Tagore beautifully explored the physical and metaphysical world, with corporeal and incorporeal desires and emotions. There was love, longing, peace, desire, spirituality, and all profound feelings one experiences in a lifetime. The songs are for the lover, for the reluctant, for the secluded, and for anyone who wants to experience the beautiful words put together like a gar...

The Meaning of Time

Image
"Time is money" but unlike money you can't get it back. Once the time is gone, it's gone forever. But there is something unique about time. Most of us know that time is eternal . We don't know when it started or came to being and we can't know when it'll stop or cease to exist. Each and every moment of time is essential and loaded with limitless possibilities.    If we contemplate it, we get to know that everything takes place in time . Nothing can happen outside time.  How? Let's go deeper. Try to remember a pleasant memory. Now you remember that. That memory was an event in the past and past is a component of time. Thus, memories are in time. Your actions, their results, everything occurs in time. But what is this time?   Time itself is a memory, it is a healer , it can give you happiness or take it away from you (it depends on your state of mind). It is something you cannot escape. It is always there whether you notice or not. This time ...

Is Suicide The Only Solution?

Image
In our society, where the value of the dollar, petrol and deisel are rising, the value of life is near to zero. Life, now, has become so worthless, for some, that people gave up on it without a prior thought. Life is life and it is the most precious thing which is provided to us by the Almighty. Then, why are we taking our preciousness so lightly? We all know how it feels when someone who is close to our heart passes away. The pain is unbearable at times. Such a thing cannot be undone. Why does a person add up to the present suffering by giving up on her/his life? The chief causes of suicide are, depression; overexpectations of others; end of a love relation; toxic relationships; substance abuse; poor academic score; and so on. There are many other reasons for committing such an act. Why do one try to take her/his life? Why suicide is always seen as an easy answer to all the problems? The questions are infinite but the answer is one. We cannot know what a person is going through, becau...

Coronavirus everywhere...

Image
The whole world is under the dread of coronavirus. A pandemic which has turned the whole world upside down. But why are we suffering because of this pandemic? Is it really the result of karma? Is this pandemic human-made? Or there is some mysterious superpower or something supernatural which is taking control over us? We can make innumerable assumptions about this global crisis. As most of us know that a great portion of world's population consumes animal meat. The suffering that goes into the meat production is beyond the realm of reason. Billions of animals are slaughtered annually. The common teachings of most religions says killing is immoral and everyday thousands of animals are killed for human consumption and other trivial purposes. This is why, many people who are believers of law of karma (action) are claiming that the pandemic is result of the bad karmas related to killing and torturing of animals because coronavirus COVID-19 has animal origin. This could be a possi...

I need Me

There is a continuous increment in the human population and at the same time there is an increase in loneliness among people. Loneliness is one of the major cause behind mental illness. In the current scenario, irrespective of number of friends on social media, deep down every single person is alone. Is this isolation a boon or a bane? Most of us will say it is a bane. Let's go deep into this. There are two words, " Isolation " and " Solitude ". The meaning of these terms may seem same, as both refers to 'being alone', but there is a quite great difference between both. Isolation means being alone (in negative sense) and solitude means being alone (in positive sense). Confused? Let me clear your confusion. The meaning of these words might seem same but the difference is mainly of the " intention " behind it.  How?  A person in isolation feels unhappy and a person in solitude feels happy and motivated, both are alone but there is a singl...
