What Do We Actually Need?

Image
Every day, there’s a desire in our heart, and it could be anything, say, food, sleep, vacation, or anything on the face of earth. Most of our desires shoot up from wants, in spite of our needs. We are evolved in a certain way that we can’t really get rid of desires. However, our actions are based on the thought of fulfillment of these desires and they indirectly feed our needs. Did we ever think about what we actually need? We need peace in our heart and mind. This is the real treasure we need and we should desire for. We can’t survive without desire. After all, desires keep our lives in motion and attribute some sort of meaningfulness to it. We never thought about our heart’s true desire. We are merely following a monotonous lifestyle and routine. In this stagnant living, we might gain material wealth, but for our happy survival through the adversities of life, we need something to quench our heart, mind and soul. The most effective and easiest way to relax is to do something that is ...

You are what you eat

Image
We often hear this saying, but tend to forget the significance of these words in our waking life. Food is a vital component of our life, and an essential component for our survival. In our scriptures the importance of food and its vitality is clearly described along with the function it performs.  What we eat has a direct impact on our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Whether we know this or not but every particle of food we consume affects us in a variety of ways.  So, the understanding of food is equally important as its consumption.  Today, our dietary practices are more associated with taste, appetite, and symbol of wealth. Surely, the food is meant for eating, but not mere eating. Many of us entitle ourselves with the name “foodie” or “food freaks”, but as Sadhguru pointed in his book Food Body , these are the result of ignorance. Sadhguru emphasized on being conscious of what you eat and how you eat.  We are often told to avoid junk food. As th...

Is Suicide The Only Solution?

Image
In our society, where the value of the dollar, petrol and deisel are rising, the value of life is near to zero. Life, now, has become so worthless, for some, that people gave up on it without a prior thought. Life is life and it is the most precious thing which is provided to us by the Almighty. Then, why are we taking our preciousness so lightly? We all know how it feels when someone who is close to our heart passes away. The pain is unbearable at times. Such a thing cannot be undone. Why does a person add up to the present suffering by giving up on her/his life? The chief causes of suicide are, depression; overexpectations of others; end of a love relation; toxic relationships; substance abuse; poor academic score; and so on. There are many other reasons for committing such an act. Why do one try to take her/his life? Why suicide is always seen as an easy answer to all the problems? The questions are infinite but the answer is one. We cannot know what a person is going through, becau...

I need Me

Image
There is a continuous increment in the human population and at the same time there is an increase in loneliness among people. Loneliness is one of the major cause behind mental illness. In the current scenario, irrespective of number of friends on social media, deep down every single person is alone. Is this isolation a boon or a bane? Most of us will say it is a bane. Let's go deep into this. There are two words, " Isolation " and " Solitude ". The meaning of these terms may seem same, as both refers to 'being alone', but there is a quite great difference between both. Isolation means being alone (in negative sense) and solitude means being alone (in positive sense). Confused? Let me clear your confusion. The meaning of these words might seem same but the difference is mainly of the " intention " behind it.  How?  A person in isolation feels unhappy and a person in solitude feels happy and motivated, both are alone but there is a singl...

Aura

Image
I am feeling so negative, ohhh! I feel so good, I am unable to comprehend my feelings, I feel safe (around a certain person). Believe it or not we feel something strange whenever we are around someone or something. But, why is that so? It is because of "Aura". Aura is an energy field which surrounds each an every object existent in this cosmos, be it living or non-living, corporeal or incorporeal. Aura differs in terms of degrees. The sort of feelings or emotions that we experience can speak more than words about an individual as well as about things or places.  Aura of something or someone can affect mental, spiritual, physical, and social integrity and well-being of an individual. But our major concern is why does this aura affects us and from where does it come from? So, the aura comes from the body and is felt through our mental capacities. Aura consists of various colors, these colors are identical to the seven shades of the rainbow. Each color has its own signific...

Smile

Image
Smile is not just a word, it's an act; Smile is not just an act, it's a mode of expression of emotions; Smile is not just a curve, it's a painting in itself. Smile is said to be, in biological terms, stretching of facial muscles which creates a curve on your face. Smile is used to give an explanation of your feelings. The process behind a small smile can be vast. It's a mental phenomena which cannot be expressed in terms of language. Smile works as a stress buster. It is often said that when you smile, the muscle stretch releases stress and boosts your mood and mental health. If anyone is not in a good frame of mind or feeling toxicated or have been trapped inside the vicious circle of negativity, must try to smile for atleast two minutes. Smiling for no reason sounds foolish bit keeping aside what Others think and doing the activity for your well-being will definitely worth it. When we smile, we are not the only one smiling but we make Others smile as we...

Peace

Peace, a great word, used by mostly all beings. But, what does it mean? Some says, "Peace is freedom from disturbance and interference." For Politicians and Democrats, peace stands for no conflict, no war, no discomfort between various areas, states, nations and countries. While some holds that peace is silence, no chaos, no discords, no quarrels in society or individuals. I googled the notion of peace but found no exact definition of it. We usually talk about peace and harmony, but have ever been curious to know what actually the word Peace denotes? The answer would be "no" for many of us, right! We humans use words for the sake of using it only. We are happy at the surface level, nobody wants to go depth of the things, though there are some exceptions and will always be. One of the many influential British Philosophers, Bertrand Russell, said "Philosophers answers those ultimate questions which science fails to answer." Let's begin our tour to f...
